Enneatype 6

"The Loyalist"
Mental Center

Core Fear

"Facing an unpredictable universe and lacking security and faith."

Core Desire

"To find security through submission to an external authority or through rebellion."

Psychological Architecture

Type 6 has lost faith in a secure universe and, confronted with unpredictable authorities, develops hyper-vigilance. Their passion is Fear (or Anxiety), their mental center acting as a machine that constantly scans for the worst possible scenarios.

The Trap under Stress (Disintegration)

The mechanism at work is projection: unable to tolerate their own anxiety, they project it onto their environment by attributing malicious intentions to others. Under pressure, fear transmutes into paranoia, frantic accusation, or total paralysis.

The Path of Growth (Integration)

Healing comes via Holy Faith, the inner certainty that the deep essence of the individual is supported by the universe. The integration of this faith demonstrates that presence in the moment is sufficient to face any ordeal, which generates Courage.

Are you really a base 6?

Recognizing yourself in a profile description is the first step, but the Barnum effect can be misleading. The Enneagram is complex: your "wings" (neighboring types) and your defense mechanisms (rationalization, denial, introjection) can mask your true nature.

To be absolutely sure, download the Ennea Gramma software. Its interactive test identifies your dominant base by bypassing your cognitive biases and generates your "Fundamental Square" to help you defuse your intimate and professional conflicts.
